Cigna Signs $2.9 Million Class Deal in Covid Testing Cost Suit

Cigna Health & Life Insurance Co. agreed to pay more than $2.9 million to resolve a proposed class action alleging it failed to properly reimburse Covid-19 testing costs.

The deal requires Cigna to pay 85% of the difference between its reimbursement amounts and the amounts billed by medical providers, up to $500 per test, with larger payments possible if properly documented. The deal resolves about 28,000 claims that Cigna allegedly failed to properly reimburse, according to a settlement motion filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
