Cigna incorrectly treats liposuction surgery as an experimental or unproven treatment for the chronic condition, the June 27 lawsuit alleges. Contrary to Cigna’s position, specialized liposuction is the “only available” therapy for it, and the treatment’s been shown beneficial in multiple studies, according to the complaint in the Northern District of California.
