Cigna Accuses Retirees of Inflating Pension Victory by $100M

Cigna Corp. retirees who successfully sued the company over its pension plan are now trying to inflate their legal victory by more than $100 million, the company told a federal judge.

Cigna is in “full compliance” with court orders requiring it to recalculate certain retiree pensions, the company said in an April 26 opposition motion. The retirees’ April 5 request for sanctions rests on a mischaracterization of the court’s orders and is an ill-fated attempt to relitigate settled methodological issues, Cigna said.
