Chamber Backs Kellogg Retiree’s Loss in Pension Calculation Suit

A Kellogg Co. retiree’s Sixth Circuit appeal challenging how the food maker calculates pensions for certain married workers is an attempt to rewrite federal law that would impose huge costs on employers, the US Chamber of Commerce said.

The business industry trade group objects to a lawsuit arguing that Kellogg successors Kellanova and WK Kellogg improperly shortchanged certain workers’ retirement benefits by calculating their pensions using outdated interest rate assumptions and lifespan data.
