CBIZ Worker’s Widow Can Press Some Life Insurance Denial Claims

The widow of a CBIZ Inc. employee who died after battling cancer advanced claims over the company’s handling of his life insurance coverage, but her claims against Hartford Life & Accident Insurance Co. were dismissed.

The accounting and advisory firm must defend claims that it misled the employee about how to keep his $490,000 in life insurance coverage after going on disability leave while battling colon cancer, according to a Feb. 21 ruling by Judge Kate M.
