The Kansas Supreme Court reversed the decision of the Court of Appeals that a state employee’s ex-wife’s interest in his retirement account had gone dormant because she didn’t send the retirement system a copy of the qualified domestic relations order. The state supreme court said that the divorce judgment a final judgment subject to the state’s dormancy statute, and that the dormancy period was statutorily tolled until the employee’s benefits became payable.
