A federal district court in New Jersey granted Securian Life Insurance Company’s motion for summary judgment in this ERISA action by the widow of a Corteva Agriscience employee, challenging the denial of supplemental life insurance benefits. The court said that Securian didn’t abuse its discretion in denying payment of supplemental life insurance, because the coverage wasn’t in force at the time of the employee’s death due to his failure to pay the premium.
