Caremark Hit With Would-Be Class Action Over Drug Pricing

Caremark Rx LLC, the pharmacy benefit manager owned by CVS Health, was accused in a proposed class action of inflating prescription drug costs in violation of federal benefits law.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 22 by a woman who receives prescription drug benefits through a health plan administered by CVS/Caremark Inc., accuses various Caremark entities of forcing pharmacies to impose unauthorized cost-sharing amounts on prescription drugs in violation of patients’ health plan terms. In some cases, this caused patients to pay markups of more than 63 percent, the lawsuit alleges.
