Athene Holding Ltd., the annuity seller that accounts for about one-fourth of the asset-management fees at Apollo Global Management LLC, is seeking to take on risks from pension plans as the insurer expands its portfolio after going public.
“We’re looking at everything out there,” Jim Belardi, Athene’s chief executive officer, said in a phone interview March 16. “We think we have a number of advantages over anyone else in the sector, starting with our management team.”
