AK Steel Employee Gets Trial on Disability Discrimination Claim

An AK Steel Corp. employee may have a jury hear her claims that the company violated federal disability bias law by failing to return her to a warehouse job she had held before a medical leave.

Osama Williams worked as a utility person/truck driver, a job that requires employees to be able to lift more than 50 pounds. She wasn’t permitted to return to the job after her leave because she wasn’t permitted by her doctor to lift more than 15 pounds, and she wasn’t immediately offered another job.
