Aetna Ordered to Pay Disability Benefits

Aetna Life Insurance Co. must pay long-term disability benefits to a worker whose herniated disc and other conditions made her unable to perform the duties of her job, as a federal judge in Pennsylvania found that the insurer denied benefits based on “inadequate information and lax investigatory procedures” (Granville v. Penn Foster, Inc., 2015 BL 410590, M.D. Pa., 3:14-cv-00211, 12/15/15).
