Aetna Beats Would-Be Class Suit Over Physical Therapy Coverage

Aetna Life Insurance Co. defeated a proposed class action challenging its coverage of rehabilitative physical therapy services when a Connecticut federal judge concluded that the benefits sought by the lawsuit weren’t available under the terms of the plaintiff’s health plan.

The Yale University health plan, which provides benefits to plaintiff Dennis Curtis, doesn’t cover rehabilitative physical therapy services that aren’t expected to significantly improve a patient’s condition within a specified time frame, Judge Michael P.
