Texas Judge Won’t Require Funding Data in IP Edge Patent Lawsuit

A federal judge in Texas declined to force a company linked to patent-monetization company IP Edge LLC to disclose investors behind its suit against e-commerce platform Shopify Inc.

Magistrate Judge Derek T. Gilliland, who sits in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, noted at the end of a Friday afternoon Zoom hearing that Shopify had already notified the court through its motion to compel that the plaintiff in the case, Lower48 IP LLC, was connected to IP Edge.
