LinkedIn Corp. is accused of infringing two social networking patents that describe a method for creating ways to “facilitate people in life issues.”
NetSoc LLC alleged that the online professional network is infringing U.S. Patent Nos. 9,978,107 and 7,565,344 in a Dec. 26 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The patents relate to the creation of social networks that can help companies relocate employees and their families.
NetSoc this year has sued three other companies, including dating site Match Group Inc., over the same patents, Bloomberg Law data show.
NetSoc also accused LinkedIn of encouraging its customers to use the infringing service.
A LinkedIn spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a Bloomberg Law request for comment. The Law Office of David J. Hoffman is representing NetSoc.
The case is NetSoc LLC v. LinkedIn Corp., S.D.N.Y., No. 1:18-cv-12215, complaint filed 12/26/18.
