Pokémon Go Maker Niantic Nixes AR Patents
Niantic, maker of the popular Pokémon Go mobile game, convinced a federal judge to invalidate four augmented-reality patents, effectively ending ImagineAR Inc.'s infringement lawsuit over its location-based titles, Christopher Yasiejko reports.
The Canadian company’s US Patent Nos. 10,946,284, 11,484,797, 11,666,827, and 12,070,691 are invalid because they’re “abstract and non-inventive,” Judge Joshua D. Wolson wrote in an opinion issued in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
