AvioVision Seeks Ruling on Mobile Patent Tied to Southwest Case

Thales SA’s AvioVision NV unit asked a Delaware federal court to find its AvioCast onboard aircraft communications device doesn’t infringe a wireless-network patent asserted in a case against its customer Southwest Airlines.

AvioVision also sought a declaration that Intellectual Ventures II LLC’s US Patent No. 11,032,000 is invalid and unenforceable in its complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The Belguim-based company said the patent claims abstract ideas implemented with conventional wireless technology.
