Musk Judge’s Unconventional Case Shuffle
The chief judge of the Delaware Chancery Court, accused of bias by attorneys for Elon Musk and Tesla, reassigned two cases involving Musk in a way that she said would ensure objectivity: Scrabble tiles.
During a tense hearing in Wilmington, Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick made attorneys blindly choose Scrabble tiles from a bag held by one of her law clerks, with each tile corresponding to the name of one of her six colleagues on the prestigious business court’s bench, Jennifer Kay reports.
