A Louisiana state agency urged its federal lawmakers—including House Speaker Mike Johnson—to prevent expiration of a tax break for business that hire workers who typically struggle to find jobs.
Susana Schowen, secretary of Louisiana Works, wrote in a Nov. 19 letter obtained by Bloomberg Tax to Louisiana lawmakers pressing them to extend the work opportunity tax credit, which gives a modest break to companies that employ veterans, ex-felons, recipients of needs-based benefits, and those out of a job for more than six months.
