IRS Funding in Jeopardy in Senate Fight

The IRS is more likely to shut down next weekend as the Senate appears headed for deadlock on immigration enforcement funding attached to that of the tax collection agency.

The Senate this week is slated to take up a $1.3 trillion appropriations package (H.R. 7148) ahead of the Jan. 30 deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown. The House has already passed the six appropriations bills included in the package, including enough money for the IRS and Treasury Department until Sept. 30.
