XPO’s Noncompete Restriction for Former Manager ‘Reasonable’

XPO Logistics Inc. demonstrated that a former manager violated reasonable employment restrictions on noncompetition when she left for rival trucking company Saia LTL Freight, a federal court said.

XPO is entitled to a preliminary injunction precluding Jessica Northrop from working for Saia. , said Chief Judge Frank D. Whitney of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. The requirement that she not work for a direct competitor for six months after leaving XPO isn’t overbroad, the court said.

Northrop must also honor employment restrictions concerning XPO’s confidential information and return XPO property, it said.
