Workplace Violence Charge Against Psychiatric Hospital Upheld

A federal administrative law judge has upheld an OSHA workplace violence citation against a Universal Health Services Inc. psychiatric hospital, UHS of Centennial Peaks LLC in Louisville, Colo.

In a final order released Tuesday, Judge Patrick Augustine also affirmed the $10,229 fine for the single violation of a law, the general duty clause that requires employers to provide workplaces free of known, deadly hazards that can be minimized.

The Dec. 7, 2018, Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection was prompted by a worker’s complaint about widespread hazards at the hospital, according to the decision.
