Employees are protected from retaliation by their employers for asserting anti-discrimination rights related to Covid-19, the federal government said in new guidance Wednesday.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission updated its technical guidance for employers to clarify how anti-retaliation protections apply during the ongoing pandemic.
The guidance comes as the federal government’s labor-focused agencies are ramping up efforts to protect workers from unlawful retaliation. The EEOC, U.S. Department of Labor, and National Labor Relations Board are hosting a virtual event Wednesday with employers on the importance of anti-retaliation protections.
