The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration continues to face a shortage of inspectors, according to an internal watchdog report, further hampering its ability to enforce safety regulations.
The number of OSHA inspectors fell from 846 in February 2024 to 736 in June 2025, according to the Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General.
The drop weakens an agency already struggling to meet its mission of enforcing safety standards in the workplace.
