Diversity Data for Oracle, Gilead, Others Shielded by DOL (1)

The Labor Department is arguing it should be able to guard workforce diversity reports submitted by companies including Oracle, Gilead Sciences Inc., and Fitbit Inc. from Freedom of Information Act requests, according to a recent court filing in the Northern District of California.

The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs argues that the requested diversity data falls under an exemption that would shield “commercial or financial information” from being released through FOIA, calling it “privileged or confidential.”
