Women Once Again Make Up Almost Half of All US Employed: Chart

Women accounted for 82.8% of the 372,000 gain in June payrolls and now represent 49.9% of total US nonfarm employment, the Labor Department’s latest payrolls report showed Friday. Before the pandemic, women’s share of total employed equaled that of men before dropping nearly a full percentage point by May 2020 as millions were forced to leave the labor force due to the impact of the Covid-19 on the economy.
