WNBA, Vegas Aces Hit With Dearica Hamby’s Pregnancy Bias Lawsuit

The WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces traded basketball player Dearica Hamby to another team because of her pregnancy, according to a complaint filed Monday against her former team and the league.

The Aces removed Hamby—who won an Olympic bronze representing the US in women’s 3x3 basketball earlier this month—from team housing, reneged on a promise to pay her first child’s private school tuition, and ultimately traded her to the Los Angeles Sparks after she became pregnant with her second child in 2022, she told the US District Court for the District of Nevada.
