The Women’s National Basketball Players Association has joined the AFL-CIO, the country’s largest labor federation announced in a tweet Wednesday.
The WNBA Players Association joins at least five other professional sports unions the AFL-CIO counts as part of its organization.
The AFL-CIO’s 58 unions represent more than 12 million workers. The WNBA Players Association was the first labor union of professional women athletes when it was formed in 1998.
