Wisconsin McDonald’s Franchiser Settles Race Bias Lawsuit

Pensec, Inc., a Wisconsin company with nine McDonald’s fast food restaurants, has agreed to pay $31,137, and provide other relief to settle a race discrimination lawsuit, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Monday.

The EEOC charged that Pensec failed to or refused to hire Black applicants because of their race. Based on census data for the area, the EEOC said the corporation’s West Washington Street location in Milwaukee had a statistically significant shortfall in the hiring of Black employees, which violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits discrimination in the workplace based on ...
