Wisconsin High Court Tosses Challenge to ‘Power Grab’ Laws

A lawsuit filed by Wisconsin labor unions challenging “power grab” legislation passed by Republicans during a lame duck session of the Legislature hangs by a thread after the Wisconsin Supreme Court tossed a similar suit filed by the League of Women Voters.

Wisconsin’s high court in a 4-3 decision June 21 rejected the LWV’s assertions that the December 2018 “extraordinary session” of the Legislature, hastily engineered after GOP losses in the general election, was unconstitutional and all legislation passed during the session must be voided.
