Wisconsin Enacts Disabled Veteran Tax Credit

Legislation (S.B. 369) signed into law by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) April 4 establishes a new income tax credit for employers that hire unemployed disabled veterans.

The credit is available starting with the 2012 tax year. The amount of credit varies depending on whether the disabled veteran is hired to work full time or part time in the taxpayer’s in-state business.

For each disabled veteran hired for a full-time job, the employer may claim a $4,000 credit in the taxable year of hire and $2,000 per year for the next three taxable years in which the veteran ...
