Wine Teacher Says Penn State ‘DEI Orthodoxy’ Cost Her Promotion

Pennsylvania State University’s extension school twice refused to promote a wine teacher because she failed to show “sufficient ideological commitment” to its DEI program, a Thursday complaint alleges.

A promotion review committee allegedly dinged plaintiff Molly Kelly for not going as far in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as the school wanted, which she described as “policing her thoughts.” Penn State Extension wanted her to “profess belief, not merely to report attendance” at DEI training, which ran afoul of free speech protections, according to the complaint she filed in the US District Court for the Middle District of ...
