A California federal judge granted preliminary approval of a $10 million revised settlement and certified a class of nearly 163,000 wine delivery workers in a protracted lawsuit alleging various state labor violations.
The workers were hired by a franchisee of Express Services Inc., one of the nation’s largest staffing franchisors, to make deliveries for Western Wine Services Inc., a wine logistics company in Napa.
The lawsuit was filed in 2012 by Michael Stoddart, who was hired by an Express franchisee and assigned to work for Western.
