The Department of Labor sent a proposed rule on independent contractor classifications to the White House, taking the first step towards replacing the Biden-era rule.
The proposed rule was filed with the Office of Management and Budget. Business groups have pushed the administration to repeal the rule and shift the determination around whether a worker is an employee or an independent contractor for purposes of the federal minimum wage and overtime law.
