White House Drops Embattled Nominee to Rail, Airline Labor Board

President Joe Biden is dropping a nominee he’d put forward to reappoint as a member of the National Mediation Board, which oversees labor-management disputes in the rail and airline industries.

The White House last year nominated Gerald Fauth, a holdover from the previous administration, to another term on the board. Nominees that failed to gain Senate confirmation before the year-end Senate congressional recess were sent back to the president. Fauth won’t be renominated, a White House spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.
