Western Digital Accused of Systemic Pay, Sex Bias Against Women

Western Digital Corp. is accused in a new class lawsuit of systemic bias against women in its workforce.

The sex discrimination in pay, promotions, and job placements is the result of the tech giant’s male-dominated leadership and management, Yunghui Chen says in a complaint filed May 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She filed the suit on behalf of herself and similarly situated women.

Western maintains uniform policies and procedures, including a “centralized decision-making” system, that has allowed it to “cultivate and promote” its male-dominated corporate culture, the complaint charges.
