Right-to-work legislation (S.B. 1) has been sent to the West Virginia Senate’s Judiciary Committee, just days after the legislature convened.
The measure, which has nine sponsors including Senate President Bill Cole (R), was discussed by the committee for four hours Jan. 14, but no action was taken.
Cole introduced the bill Jan. 13, the opening day of West Virginia’s 2016 legislative session. He has dubbed it the “Workplace Freedom Act,” saying, “It’s not about union or anti-union. It’s freedom of choice.”
