Wells Fargo, Lincoln Financial Win Short-Term Disability Suit

A Wells Fargo program analyst is not entitled to short-term disability benefits because he did not show that Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. abused its discretion in denying his claim, a federal judge in Minnesota ruled.

Wells Fargo hired Monty Jones in March 2023, around one month before he filed for short-term disability following the death of his mother. Jones cited anxiety, depression, sleep apnea, and atrial fibrillation in his claim, submitting evidence from his therapist that his mental health had worsened after his mother’s death.
