Warren Probes Workplace Safety Agency Over Enforcement Decline

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is pressing the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration in a letter to respond to new data that reveals the agency performed fewer inspections and issued fewer fines for severe workplace violations in 2025.

OSHA reduced workplace inspections by 20% and saw a decrease of more than 40% in the number of willful violations issued during inspections from April to September 2025 in comparison to the year prior, according to data provided confidentially to Warren’s office.
