Walmart to Pay $75,000 to Settle Disability Discrimination Suit

Wal-Mart Stores East will pay $75,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit claiming an employee working for a North Carolina distribution center was denied intermittent leave as a reasonable accommodation for her neurological disability, the EEOC announced Friday.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission also said Walmart told the employee she could not return to work unless she provided a full medical release saying she could work without restrictions, after which she filed a complaint to the company’s ethics office. The EEOC said she was fired nine days later.
