Walmart Inc. violated federal civil rights law when it refused to accommodate an employee who required a job coach due to his intellectual disability and subjected him and a coworker to a hostile work environment, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a new lawsuit.
Supervisors at Walmart’s Mount Pleasant, Wis. location in 2021 harassed two employees with intellectual disabilities who worked as cart pushers, calling them derogatory names and sending one employee home early, the suit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin on Thursday said.
