Walmart Settles Female Employee’s Pay, Promotion Bias Case (1)

Walmart Stores Inc. settled a former grocery department manager’s lawsuit alleging that the retail giant discriminated against her and other female employees in pay and promotion opportunities.

Kim Guinn and Walmart filed a joint dismissal Wednesday with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to end the case. The terms of the agreement to resolve Guinn’s claims haven’t been made public.

The settlement closes one of the many sex bias cases that were spawned by the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2011 ruling that decertified a nationwide, 1.5 million-member class action against the company. Since then, Walmart has faced ...
