Walmart Settles $70,000 EEOC Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

Walmart Inc. will pay $70,000 and provide additional relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit in South Carolina, according to the EEOC Thursday.

Shortly after being hired, a disabled worker who uses a prosthetic leg was given the accommodation of using an electric store cart to perform some of his duties, said US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Months later, this accommodation was allegedly revoked by Walmart and the employee was not given an alternative.

The worker was later placed on indefinite unpaid leave, according to the civil rights agency.
