Walmart Facility Accused by EEOC of Systemic Pregnancy Bias (1)

A Walmart distribution center in Wisconsin treats pregnant workers unequally by denying them job accommodations such as light duty that workers with other types of medical or physical limitations are regularly granted, the U.S. government alleges in a new lawsuit.

The complaint was filed in federal court Sept. 20 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It alleges that the discrimination has occurred on a classwide basis, meaning it has affected a number of women working at Walmart Distribution Center #6025 in addition to Alyssa Gilliam, who brought the alleged bias to the EEOC’s attention.
