Walgreens Settles EEOC Pregnancy, Disability Discrimination Suit

Walgreen Co. has agreed to pay $205,000 to settle an EEOC pregnancy discrimination lawsuit filed in federal court in Louisiana, the agency said Tuesday.

A pregnant employee at an Alexandria, La., store who had diabetes and hypoglycemia allegedly was forced to quit when Walgreens didn’t allow her to take emergency leave to seek medical attention, which violates Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said.
