Visa Fraud, Theft Claims Headed to Trial in EB-5 Case

A jury will decide whether a Nigerian national’s loss of an investment-related visa and his capital was the fault of his attorney and the EB-5 regional center in which he invested, a Wisconsin federal court ruled.

Osita Aboloma alleged that his attorney, John Ifediora, advised him to invest $500,000 with U.S. Foods & Pharmaceuticals LLC in 2014 as part of the EB-5 immigrant investor program. The company, which is based in Madison, Wis., but purportedly was developing a second location in Michigan, wasn’t engaged in any legitimate business, Aboloma’s suit alleged, and as a result, his visa application was denied. ...
