VA to Cut Union ‘Official Time,’ Charge for Using Facilities (1)

The Department of Veterans Affairs is requiring its employee unions to vacate or pay rent for the use of VA office space and equipment that they previously used for free.

In addition, VA employees who serve as union representatives will now be expected to spend at least 75% of their paid time “performing VA business or necessary training in most circumstances,” the department said in a statement Nov. 15.
