Veteran Unable to Wear Mask Due to PTSD Loses Disability Claim

An Iraq war veteran who refused to wear a mask because of his post-traumatic stress disorder had his hostile work environment disability discrimination claim against the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation tossed by a federal court.

Richard Bettis’ alleged instances of discrimination weren’t severe or pervasive enough to sustain his hostile work environment claim, the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania ruled Tuesday.
