Vermont Governor Vetoes Minimum Wage, Paid Family Leave Bills

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) has vetoed bills that would have increased the state’s minimum wage and created a paid family leave program.

The minimum wage bill (S.40) would have increased the state minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2024.

A 2014 law pegs future increases in Vermont’s minimum wage to inflation. The state’s minimum wage will rise from $10.50 to $10.80 per hour on Jan. 1, 2019, and to $12.16 by 2024.
