Verizon Retailer and Employees Strike $2.4 Million Overtime Deal

A $2.4 million settlement between the Cellular Connection, an authorized Verizon retailer, and more than 4,600 employees in Pennsylvania received approval from a federal judge, resolving a Fair Labor Standards Act overtime collective action.

The collective members will split more than $1.5 million after certain deductions, a Nov. 10 court order indicates. The average individual payout is about $520 and the highest is $1,500. Class counsel will receive one-third of the total amount, roughly $792,000, in attorneys’ fees, and $4,418 for litigation costs, the order says.
