The Department of Veterans Affairs isn’t sharing critical information about its response to the Covid-19 pandemic with its largest health-care worker union, local leaders with the American Federation of Government Employees said.
Representatives for workers at VA medical facilities aren’t getting enough information on the number of Covid-19 cases among staff members, or they suspect that the actual numbers are higher than what they’re being told, union officials told reporters during a conference call Wednesday.
“I’m concerned. I do believe the VA is downplaying the numbers,” said AFGE Local 3 President Gayle Griffin, who represents Milwaukee-based employees.
